Just because you are wearing gloves, does not excuse you from properly washing your hands. According to Jon Otter, healthcare blogger, wearing gloves reduces the “urgh” factor. He explains this as eliminating the instinctive reaction of performing correct hand hygiene after touching something soiled or contaminated because you are “wearing gloves”. Despite the constant use of gloves, please remember to change them between every patient; in addition to, washing your hands before every patient visit.

However, after attending one of our informational sessions, he was reminded of the importance of daily patient safety protocol. He now takes the appropriate time to dispose of contaminated gloves, perform proper hand hygiene, and apply aseptic gloves.
